the sacred rebellion of deeply retreating
Wintering is the act of finding deep nourishment in retreating from the world, dealing with your (mental) health with awareness, giving yourself space to BE instead of DO. In a world which glorifies the hustle, wintering is part of the sacred rebellion we engage in as spiritual feminists.
As Katherine May in her book ‘Wintering’ says, “We like to imagine that it’s possible for life to be one eternal summer, and that we have uniquely failed to achieve that for ourselves. We dream of an equatorial habitat, forever close to the sun; an endless, unvarying high season. But life’s not like that”.
So how does your darkness look like? And you can allow yourself to not feel alone or strange when you lean into your inner and outer seasons of Winter(ing)?
