Hello December! 🎄⁠

Does December = overwhelm for you? ⁠
Then let's take it a step back and take a deeeeep breath here. 💆🏼‍♀️⁠
⁠
Feels good right? ⁠
Maybe we can set the intention together that this month gets to be the most nourishing December yet. 🧡⁠
⁠
How? ⁠
By putting ourselves first a little more frequently, even if it feels impossible. 👏🏼⁠
⁠
I still don't love the word selfish. I think it's too loaded to ever fully reclaim the word as a positive. But it can be a good start.⁠
So let's start by equalling selfish to nourishing. Selfish = empowering. Selfish = gooood for the soul. 😏⁠
⁠
December gets to be selfish. Even if it's in the little pockets of time in-between seeing friends or family.⁠
⁠

For many, November is a month of gratitude. ⁠
Which, in my opinion, can lay the foundation for a grounded and connected December - something that doesn't always come naturally. 🙏🏼⁠
⁠
Gratitude can sometimes feel like a cleansing of the system. ⁠
Like palo santo, sage or rosemary, bringing light to gratitude can release heavy energies in the body. Sometimes, simply stating three things you're grateful for can already shed the weight off of your shoulders and relax the muscles in-between the eyebrows. ⁠
⁠
So, in this moment, I thank November for: ⁠
1. allowing me to soften⁠
2. gifting Joris and I our van, a new adventure (@tinytimestwo)⁠
3. showing me how incredibly beautiful my life is. ⁠
⁠
I'm feeling very blessed and I'm so happy to take that energy into December with me. 💫⁠
⁠

In this week's podcast episode (catch it in the link in bio, it's episode 121), I reflect on the past two months of moving, stress, pressure and life falling into place after all of that. 🙏🏼⁠

The Wintering has begun, and as I'm wrapping myself up in my cocoon a little more every day, I'm realising that life is feeling pretty damn successful at the moment. 🥰⁠
⁠
In the height of Yang season, I ran a retreat, had the highest revenue I ever had and made some big life decisions about travel, living and the biz in 2023. ⁠
⁠
And that felt successful. I suppose it is. ⁠
But having the space to listen to my body now as well, as her needs are changing with the disappearing light and the wonderful realities of tiny house living (chopping wood, making fire, being outdoors), feels incredibly successful too. 💫⁠
⁠

Since moving to the tiny house, I've slowed my pace. ⁠
⁠
Yes, because I wanted to. ⁠
But also because living in the rhythm of nature during this season means that some energy, time and attention of my day goes towards the basics: keeping warm (chopping wood & making a fire), feeling nourished (preparing stews and teas that need a couple of hours on the hob and make the house smell amazing), feeling rested (going to bed early and waking with the first sound of the birds - moving with the dark & light naturally). ⁠
⁠
When we got a large wood delivery the other week, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty and intricacy of the logs. The structures, colours... they all tell a story. And that story has two main components - time and regeneration. It's taken a significant amount of time for this tree to produce such beautiful wood. And the regeneration that we get to enjoy as we warm our homes and bodies with the fire that these logs can create for us completes this interconnected cycle. ⁠
⁠
Time and regeneration. Two pieces of wisdom that we can all take into our hearts this Wintering season. Let's take our time. Let's rest. Allow the Earth and our bodies to restore. To come home to ourselves. And to regenerate all that we're allowed to release into fire to warm us, hold us, inspire us, enlighten us and prepare us for the next season of Spring.⁠
